ST. LOUIS (AP) — A St. Louis man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for a fatal shooting as part of a plea deal.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the sentence was ordered Monday for 28-year-old Terrence Robinson. He was originally charged with first-degree murder in the death of 34-year-old Raymond Neal. But he pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of involuntary manslaughter and armed criminal action.

Authorities say Robinson shot Neal three times after he attacked Robinson’s friend, Naesean Thompson. Police say Thompson was selling drugs in front of a convenience store and pulled a gun during the struggle with Neal, an unarmed drug buyer.

Thompson, who is 29, is scheduled to go on trial next month on charges of first-degree murder and armed criminal action.
