
Barbara A. Slaughter, 74, of Sherman, TX passed quietly March 21, 2025. She was born July 7, 1950, in Lingle, WY to Linvle “Lem” and Katherine Oliver. Barbara graduated from high school in 1968.
Barbara and her husband, Emil Gary Slaughter, lived in Wyoming and Texas. Together they had two children, Daniel and Jennifer. In 1985, Barbara graduated from American Commercial College. She used her degree in her work as an administrative assistant and later in retail sales. Barbara enjoyed sewing and crafts. She was an avid reader and put puzzles together. Barbara loved being a grandmother or “Nana” and would share stories with everyone who would listen.
She is survived by siblings Carylan M. McLean and husband John, Russell R. Oliver and wife Jodie, Lynn McKennan and husband Joe, Jim Oliver and wife Jeanne; her children Daniel Slaughter and wife Kristi of San Angelo, TX and Jennifer Vinton and husband Dave of Sherman, TX.; and grandchildren Megan Cauley and husband Jacob of Lubbock, TX, Alanah Slaughter of Old Forge, NY, Harmony Slaughter of Eastland, TX, and Chandler Slaughter of San Angelo, TX.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and siblings Velma L. Foote, Donald L. Oliver, Norman D. Oliver, and Dick L. Oliver.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Cemetery Thayer, Missouri.
Interment will be Private at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Thayer, Missouri with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer, Missouri.
