Memorial Services for Betty Garline Moore, Age 89 of Mountain View, Missouri will be held on Wednesday, July 22nd, 2026 at The Yarber Mortuary Chapel, Mountain View, Missouri, beginning at 11:00 AM. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 10:00 AM. Private Interment will take place in The Mount Olive Cemetery, Clear Springs, Missouri.
Betty Garline (Beavers) Moore was born to Edgar and Mary Beavers of Montier, Missouri, on August 18, 1936. She passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026, at the age of 89 years and 11 months.
Betty grew up in Montier and attended elementary at Turkey Oak School, then attended school in Birch Tree, Missouri.
She met her husband, Raymond Lee Moore, fell in love, and married shortly after on August 1, 1953. After they were married, Betty and Lee moved to El Paso, Texas, where Lee was stationed, and they had their first son, Edgar Leslie, in 1959. Not long after Edgar was born, Betty and Lee moved back to Mountain View, Missouri, and lived on their farm on Wolf Creek. Their daughter, Shirley Garlene, was born a few years later in 1964.
Betty and Lee shared 40 wonderful years on the farm together before his passing. Afterwards, Betty moved to town, bought a new house, and worked at the Dayne Glass Municipal Golf Course for about 25 years.
Betty had many hobbies that she loved. The first was fishing. It was said she would fish in a stump hole filled with water if she thought there were fish in it. Another was golf, where she once famously made a hole-in-one on hole 2. Her other interests included bowling, gardening, birdwatching, sewing, and spending time with her family, whom she always put first. People who loved her would describe her as strong, independent, loyal, and someone you could trust with anything. She always led with integrity and understanding.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lee Moore; parents, Edgar and Mary Beavers; father and mother-in-law, Clyde and Pearl Moore; and sisters, Mary “Liz” Hard and Louise “Lou” Ramsey.
Betty is lovingly remembered by her cousin, Mary Ellen, who was so close to Betty that she was considered her sister; her children, son, Edgar Moore and wife, Sandra, and daughter, Shirley Moore; grandchildren, Kenneth Moore and Kia, Melissa Pruett, Chelzey Taylor and husband, Charles, Beth Davidson and husband, Jamie, and Linsey McKinney and husband, Kyle; great grandchildren, Justice, Brice, Kolby, Alice, Jaemi Lyn, Eli, Jax, Aurora, Liliegh, Kohle, and one more on the way.
She will be remembered for her integrity, kindness towards others, and her resilience up until the very end. She lived her life guided by her quiet faith in God and compassionate heart.
Her grandchildren will remember her fondly for making the best fried potatoes, beans and cornbread, and somehow the most magical butter toast that can never be replicated, no matter how hard they try.
From Betty to Mary Ellen, this is not a goodbye; this is just one last “see you later, alligator.”
