Faye Marie Hampton, 85 years, 9 months, 15 days old, passed to her eternal home on April 17, 2022 with her family by her side.
Faye was born July 2, 1936 in Brixey, MO to Dewey and Audra (Kastning) Cook.
On May 2, 1958 Faye and E. J. Hampton were united in marriage at the Church of Christ building in Gainesville, MO. To this union they were blessed with four daughters; Edwina, Ronda, Sheila and Shanda.
Faye began her teaching career in 1956 where she taught in one room school houses at Souder and Rockbridge. From there she taught at Gainesville and later at Ava until her retirement in 1989. She was a graduate of Gainesville High School. Faye received her B.S.E. Missouri State University, Springfield, MO. She extended her passion for working with children by substituting in the elementary classroom and as a daycare employee.
She was a member of the Souder Church of Christ and ministered along side her husband for many years. Her passion was not only teaching but also farming. In addition she also enjoyed antiques, sewing, auctions, and embroidering. Her joy was visits from her children, grand and great grandchildren. Faye adored her family.
Faye is survived by her husband, E.J. of the home, her four daughters and their husbands; Edwina & Harold Welch, Ronda & Mike McCarty, Sheila & Steve Thomas, Shanda & Ron Allen, 16 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren; three sisters and their husbands; Carol & Larry Pendergrass, Geneva Davenport, and Judy & Ron Hladun; a host of extended relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by parents, Dewey & Audra Cook, her siblings; an infant brother James, a brother, Ray Cook, a sister, Cathy Plaster, two grandsons; Marty Welch and Cody Thomas.
Funeral services for Faye will be Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with burial following in the Souder Cemetery, Wasola, MO. Visitation will be prior to the service Wednesday at 1:00 P.M. Officiating will be Bob Hampton and Dave Olbricht. Family requests memorials to the Souder Cemetery in care of the Town & Country Bank or can donate at the funeral home.
