Gailene Hampton departed this life, with her sister, Verna Campbell and husband, Mike, by her side, on September 15, 2026, at 5:15 AM. She was 65 years, 11 months, and 3 weeks young. The baby of nine children, she was born September 20, 1960, to John Orville “Bud” Hampton, and Edith (Wood) Hampton in Harrison, Arkansas.
Gailene was preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Edith Hampton, two brothers, Orville and Arthur Hampton, one sister, Wilmadean Hampton, one brother-in-law, Darrell Newton, and one nephew, Landon Newton.
Gailene leaves behind four sisters and one brother, Lorene Frost of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, Verna Campbell of Seymour, Missouri, Ermalee Elkins of Marshfield, Missouri, Darlene Newton of Seymour, Missouri, and Marvin Hampton of Seymour, Missouri, three brothers-in-law, Larry Frost, Mike Campbell, and Curtis Elkins, two nieces, Shannan Linder and Laura Fry, three nephews, Dennis Dean Bledsoe, Kendal Ray Bledsoe, and David Lynn Hampton, many double cousins and family and friends. She loved her family more than life itself. All of her family was included in every prayer she said.
Gailene looked forward everyday to watching TV, coloring, writing letters on the computer to family members, playing music, and playing video games. Gailene’s favorite sport to watch on TV was football. She knew the game well and rooted for her team that she had picked to win.
Because of her love for soda pop, Gailene was affectionately nicknamed “Sodie” by her sister, Verna, and husband, Mike. Up until about six years ago, “Sodie” got to travel many places around the country with Mike and Verna. She had so much fun traveling in a camper and eating at so many new restaurants. It was so exciting for her to get to see so many new places. Everyday while they were traveling, she would ask Verna, “Where are we going today and where will we eat?”
Gailene will be remembered for her big beautiful smile and all the excitement and joy she had given to her family and friends. She was born with angel wings and now she gets to use them!
