Glenn Yazzie, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away suddenly on Monday, March 31, 2025, at the age of 65, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, MO. He was born May 2, 1959, in Tuba City, AZ, to George and Mary (Bighorse) Yazzie.
A proud Navajo, Glenn deeply cherished his heritage. He honored his culture through the celebration of traditional ceremonies and took great pride in passing those sacred traditions on to his children and grandchildren. His identity was woven with the rich fabric of his ancestry, and he lived each day grounded in its values of resilience, generosity, and community.
Glenn had retired from the United States Postal Service. An adventurer at heart, he loved physical challenges and pursued them with enthusiasm, running 5Ks, 10Ks, and eventually marathons. His adventurous spirit also led him to the adrenaline-fueled world of bull riding. In contrast, Glenn also had a reflective side. A skilled artist, he enjoyed the calm and solitude his artistry offered. A kind, nurturing, and generous person, Glenn endeared himself to many, especially family, friends, and his church family at His Place Church.
On May 2, 2008, Glenn married Lisa Maples in Cottonwood, AZ. She survives. Also surviving are his children, Nyle Yazzie of Phoenix, AZ, April Webster of Richmond, IN, Shondene Orr, also of Richmond, Glenn Austin Yazzie of Flagstaff, AZ, Hector Barajas, Jr. and Antonio Barajas, both of Phoenix, AZ, and Chevlynn Barajas and Roselio Barajas of Doniphan; a grandson Glenn and Lisa are raising, Mateo Barajas of Doniphan; sisters, Linda Yazzie of Boise, ID and Sheril Slaughter of Yuma AZ; along with 10 grandchildren.
Glenn was preceded in death by a brother, Stan Knight.
