Gola Maxine Rosseau

Gola Maxine Rosseau, 96 years, 4 months, 19 days old, passed away on March 11, 2025, at Copper Rock Healthcare in Rogersville, Missouri, with family by her side.

Maxine was born October 22, 1928, in Ava, Missouri, to Enoch Lincoln and Anna Laura (Gunnels) Davis.

She grew up on a farm in Douglas County and attended Ava schools. 

Maxine and Damon Guthery were married, and to this union, four children were born. Damon preceded in death.  Years later, on September 18, 1987, Maxine and Norman Rosseau were united in marriage in Miami, Oklahoma. They enjoyed several years of marriage just outside of Ava. He preceded in death in 2016.  In 2018, Maxine moved to Seymour, Missouri, and enjoyed her little home there in town.

Maxine was a Christian and for years attended First Southern Baptist Church in Ava. She enjoyed cooking Sunday dinner for her family who would visit.  She also had a green thumb for African Violets and later for Orchids.  She loved her family dearly, was interested in what was going on with them, and always had hugs, kisses, and a smile to share.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Damon Guthery and Norman Rosseau; her children, Denzil and David Lee Guthery, and Carol Jane McMullin; siblings, Dean Davis, Clifton Davis, and Eula Campbell. 

Maxine is survived by her daughter, Anna Guthery; her daughters-in-law, Lisa Fitzcharles and Pam Guthery; step children, Jim Rosseau and Janet Batey; 11 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 10  great great grandchildren; siblings, Bill Davis and Glenda Scott; numerous nieces , nephews, extended family and many friends.

Graveside services for Maxine will be Friday, March 14, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. in the Ava Cemetery, Ava, Missouri. Officiating will be Pastor Oren Alcorn.  Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Missouri.
