Margie Carolyn Kay Mitchell

Margie Carolyn Kay Mitchell, 82, of Williamstown, KY, formally of Mountain View, MO. entered her eternal home on Friday, September 13, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 22, 1942, in White Church, MO, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Georgia (Gilliam) Baser. As a child she grew up on a family farm milking cows, riding horses, and working with her dad and his Fox Hounds.

On February 21, 1964, she was united in marriage to Henry Edward Mitchell; he survives. They resided in Mtn. View raising hogs and three of their four children. He worked at a Sawmill and she worked at the Dime Store. Later they moved to Piner, KY where she and her husband lived for many years, and their fourth child was born. There they were active in the Goshen Christian Church. She loved to attend her kids’ ballgame and most of the time had a 5-gallon bucket or two of beans to snap while she watched the game.
They moved back to Missouri in 1986 where she was a seamstress for many years for Angelica and the boat factory. While living in Missouri, they were actively involved in the ministries of Oak Lawn Church of God in Willow Springs, MO.

Sewing and gardening were among her favorite hobbies but nothing brought her greater joy and fulfillment than spending time with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She would always say “We needed a new one, we ruined the last one we had”.

Carrying on her legacy of love and family devotion includes her husband of almost 63 years, Henry Edward Mitchell of Williamstown, KY; Son, James (Melissa) Mitchell of Mt. Sterling, KY; Daughter, Jackie (Joe) Webster of Williamstown, KY; Son, Jerry (Crystal) Mitchell of Sturgeon, MO; Daughter, Teri (Scott) Stephens of Mtn. View, MO. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, all of whom lovingly call her “Grandma”. 

She was the last living child of all her siblings, which included Orelia Smith, James Baser, Raymond Mancil Baser, Bernadine Weise, (Twins) John Donald Baser and Dorthy Johnson, (Twins) Nila Denton and Twila Reid, and Georgia Maxine Baser. 

Visitation will be on Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm at Stanley Funeral Homes- Williamstown. Funeral Services will begin at 2:00 pm Burial will follow in Adam’s Family Cemetery in Williamstown, KY
