The Los Angeles Angels traded for Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Lucas Giolito and reliever Reynaldo López. Going back to the White Sox will be prospects Edgar Quero, a catcher, and Ky Bush, a pitcher.
Giolito was one of the top pitchers expected to be available this month. In 121 innings across 21 starts, he holds a 3.79 ERA and 131 strikeouts.
López joined the White Sox in the same trade that sent Giolito to Chicago, and now he’ll head to Anaheim with Giolito as well. He holds a 4.29 ERA and 52 strikeouts in 42 innings across 43 appearances this season and is one of MLB’s hardest-throwing pitchers.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired shortstop Amed Rosario in a trade Wednesday that saw them send right-hander Noah Syndergaard to the Cleveland Guardians.
Rosario joins a Dodgers team that just a day ago traded for super-utilityman Kiké Hernández, who had been the Boston Red Sox’s shortstop.
Syndergaard is rehabbing at Triple-A after hitting the injured list in early June because of a blister on his right index finger. After signing a one-year, $13 million contract with the Dodgers in the offseason, Syndergaard posted a 7.16 ERA over a dozen starts.
