STARKVILLE, Miss. – No. 24/25 University of Missouri softball (23-13, 3-5 SEC) returns to SEC play on the road at Mississippi State (24-13, 5-4 SEC). The Tigers have won four-straight, including a three-game sweep of South Carolina. The series opens on Friday night at 6 p.m. CT on SEC Network + in Starkville.
LAST TIME OUT
Mizzou downed in-state foe Kansas City in a midweek contest on Wednesday evening by a score of 5-1. Casidy Chaumont led the way offensively with a pair of extra-base hits, including a two-run home run in the third. Laurin Krings was stellar in the circle, allowing only two baserunners and striking out nine.
SERIES HISTORY
The Tigers lead the all-time series against the Bulldogs 14-7. Mizzou swept Mississippi State in Columbia during the 2021 season.
BAILEY’S BALLIN’
Graduate Kendyll Bailey has been one of the Tigers’ most productive bats in 2021. She is batting .352 with eight home runs and 23 RBI. She has set new career bests in hits (38), home runs (8) and RBI (23). Bailey has reached base safely in 12-straight games while accruing an eight-game hitting streak.
SPECS-TACULAR
Laurin Krings picked up her 12th win of the season against Kansas City. She has struck out a career best 131 batters over 102.2 innings.
CHAU-ME STATE
Casidy Chaumont has put up impressive numbers at the plate in addition to her highlight-reel defense in left field. The Louisianan leads the team with a .420 batting average and a .754 slugging percentage. She has 10 multi-hit games on the season and, despite missing eight games, ranks second on the team with 22 runs scored.
