SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– Drury baseball had four players named to the Academic All-District team by the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA). Connor Bain, Luke Burk, Wes Collins, and Max Elmer all earned all-district honors for the Panthers. The Academic All-District Baseball teams recognize the region’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom.
Outfielder Connor Bain hit .322 with three home runs and 33 runs batted in. The sophomore from Troy, Illinois, had 12 doubles and added 15 stolen bases. Bain was named an honorable mention All-Great Lakes Valley Conference selection. He was an Accounting major with a 3.72 grade point average.
First baseman Luke Burk led the Panthers with a .345 batting average, 15 home runs, and 61 RBIs. He posted a .695 slugging percentage, and his 15 homers set the program’s single-season record. A senior from Galena, Missouri, was a Business Management major with a 3.65 grade point average.
Outfielder Wes Collins, a junior from O’Fallon, Illinois, hit .308 with seven home runs and 38 RBIs. Collins hit 15 doubles and had a .533 slugging percentage. He has a 3.64 grade point average and is a Finance major.
Max Elmer also earned Academic All-District honors after hitting .330 with 21 RBIs. The senior and Springfield-Glendale product had 15 doubles and led the team with a .470 on-base percentage. Elmer was an honorable mention All-GLVC selection and was an Accounting major with a 3.64 GPA.
The Panthers went 27-25 and finished third in the GLVC with a 23-13 mark after completing their 12th season under head coach Scott Nasby.
