The Royals completed a three-game sweep of the Minnesota Twins with a 2-0 win at Kauffman Stadium. The game was scoreless until the fifth when Garrett Hampson and Salvador Perez each drove in a run. Michael Wacha earned his 12th win after striking out seven and holding Minnesota to four hits over seven scoreless innings, and Lucas Erceg picked up his 11th save. The Royals are just two-and-a-half games behind Cleveland for first place in the AL Central at 79-and-65. They travel to play the New York Yankees tonight. Right-hander Brady Singer is slated to start opposite New York southpaw Carlos Rodon.
