Pinch-hitter MJ Melendez belted a go-ahead, three-run homer in the top of the ninth inning to rally the Royals to a 3-2 win over the Tigers in Detroit. Chris Stratton came away with the win and Hunter Harvey posted his first save. KC won three of four in the series and has won six of its last seven overall. The Royals have won six of seven and sit third in the AL Central at 63-and-50. They return home to host the Boston Red Sox tonight. Right-hander Brady Singer will start opposite Boston southpaw James Paxton.
