ALL-SOUTHEASTERN CONFERENCE
FIRST TEAM
• Luther Burden III, WR
SECOND TEAM
• Armand Membou, OL
• Johnny Walker Jr., DL
Coming off an All-America selection as a sophomore in 2023, Burden didn’t disappoint this fall, reeling in a team-high 61 receptions for 676 yards and six touchdowns. The St. Louis product ranked third in the SEC in receptions per game (5.1) during the regular season and climbed to No. 4 on the Tigers’ all-time receptions list (192) and sixth on MU’s career receiving yardage chart (2,263). Burden, a preseason candidate for the Maxwell, Walter Camp and Biletnikoff Awards, caught at least one pass in all 12 contests this fall, extending his personal streak of consecutive games with a reception to 34 in a row, which represents the second-longest in program history.
Membou, a preseason Outland Trophy candidate, helped anchor a line that played a pivotal role for a Mizzou offense that led the SEC and ranked seventh nationally in time of possession (33:01) during the regular season. A three-year regular for the Tigers, the Lee’s Summit, Mo., native has started 26-straight games for an MU offensive line that has paved the way for one of the most successful red zone offenses in the country over the last two seasons. This year alone, the Tigers scored on 43-of-47 (91.5 percent) trips inside the opposition’s 20-yard line, while averaging 170.8 rushing yards per game.
A fifth-year senior, Walker saved his best for last, leading the Mizzou defense in tackles for loss (10.5) and sacks (7.5) this season. The Tampa, Fla., product started all 12 games during the regular season, logging 40 tackles and registering at least one-half sack in each of Mizzou’s final six contests, marking the longest active streak in the nation. Walker forced a team-high three forced fumbles and recovered another to help the Tigers rank 16th nationally in fumble recoveries. A preseason candidate for the Bronco Nagurski and Bednarik Awards, he also helped spearhead one of the stingiest defenses in the nation, as MU ranked No. 20 in scoring defense (20.1 ppg) and 22nd in total defense (319.3 ypg).
