COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 15 seed University of Missouri women’s basketball will travel to face No. 10 seed Mississippi State at 5 p.m. CT on Wednesday in the opening round of the 2025 Southeastern Conference Tournament in Greenville, S.C. The contest will be broadcast on SEC Network.
Missouri enters the tournament after posting a 14-17 overall record in the regular season including a 3-13 mark in league play.
The Tigers concluded the regular season with a loss to Vanderbilt on Sunday.
Senior point guard De’Myla Brown led Missouri with 16 points, three rebounds, and three assists.
Senior forward Laniah Randle also scored double-digit figures, capping her stat line with three rebounds, and two assists. Randle has scored in 10 or more points in five consecutive games.
Sophomore guard Grace Slaughter leads the Tigers with 15.2 points per game this season including 16.2 points in conference play.
On Tuesday, Slaughter was named SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
The sophomore is fifth in the country in 3-point percentage (46.6%) among athletes who average 1.5+ makes per game this season.
Randle (50.2%) and Slaughter (49.1%) rank eighth and ninth in the SEC in field goal percentage, respectively.
Slaughter also ranks fourth in the conference in free throw percentage at 86.5.
Sophomore guard Abbey Schreacke ranks seventh in the SEC in 3-point percentage (38.1%)
As a team, the Tigers are second in the SEC and are 10th nationally in 3-point percentage at 37 percent.
Redshirt sophomore guard Averi Kroenke ranks seventh in the SEC with a 2.24 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Entering the opening-round matchup, junior guard Ashton Judd is five points away from recording the 1,000th of her career.
On Feb. 27 against Arkansas Missouri head coach Robin Pingeton earned win No. 250 with the Tigers. Pingeton was honored during a pregame ceremony on Sunday.
On Feb. 26, Pingeton announced she would be stepping away from the program at the conclusion of the season.
Mississippi State enters the tournament following a 20-10 record in the regular season including a 7-9 record in league play.
The Bulldogs’ roster is headlined by graduate guard Jerkaila Jordan who averages 16.0 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, respectively.
Mississippi State is coached by Sam Purcell, who is in his third year leading the team.
This game marks the 17th all-time meeting between the teams, the Bulldogs leading the series 11-6.
The programs met previously this season on Jan. 27. Grace Slaughter scored a career-best 31 points and earned the Tigers a 78-77 win at the buzzer.
