Two Arrested After Douglas County Deputies Serve Midnight Search Warrant

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office arrested two Ava men early Sunday after serving a search warrant at a residence on A Highway as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation.

According to the sheriff’s office, the warrant was executed shortly after midnight on May 17, 2026, following investigative work by Sgt. A. Box, Deputy S. Evans, and Detective N. Long. The warrant authorized deputies to seize illegal narcotics and take 38‑year‑old Quistio Eustler of Ava into custody on an outstanding charge of endangering the welfare of a child, which carried a $5,000 bond.

As Sheriff Chris Degase and deputies approached the property, Eustler and another man—29‑year‑old Dalton Young of Ava—were reportedly in the yard working on a lawnmower. Both men ran when they saw law enforcement vehicles but were met by deputies positioned behind the residence. The sheriff’s office says both refused commands to get on the ground and were taken into custody after a brief struggle.

A search of the residence and Young’s vehicle led to the seizure of firearms, methamphetamine, psilocin mushrooms, and digital scales.

Warrants were later issued for both men. Eustler is accused of:

  • Possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine)
  • Unlawful use of a weapon while possessing methamphetamine and firearms
  • Resisting or interfering with arrest for a felony
  • Unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia

His bond was set at $10,000 cash only.

Young is charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine)
  • Resisting or interfering with arrest for a felony

His bond was set at $5,000 cash only.

The sheriff’s office noted that Eustler is also a suspect in a separate investigation involving burglary, kidnapping, robbery, and stealing, and has 13 prior arrests dating back to 2004. Young has one prior arrest for drug possession.

Sheriff Degase thanked his deputies for their work on what he described as a long‑term narcotics investigation. Since the start of the year, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has served 19 search warrants, resulting in 30 felony arrests. He also thanked the Ava Police Department for assisting with warrant service.
