West Plains, MO. – The Howell County Sheriff’s Office is now allowing inmates to access a learning program in a step towards not incarceration, but prisoner rehabilitation.
Inmates in the Howell County Adult Detention Center can access what are called “Brilliant Learning Courses”, which will allow inmates to study and test on materials of over 60 subjects of various levels of education.
The Howell County Sheriff’s Office states that 80% of all state and federal inmates do not have a High School diploma. This program is intended to reduce the amount of criminal retention in society by educating prisoners and giving them more options to succeed in life, away from criminal activity.
