Barbara Loretta (Maggard) Day, 79 years, 5 months, 13 days old, left for her Heavenly home on September 23, 2022 at home with her family by her side.
Barbara was born April 10, 1943 in the home of her Grandpa Monroe Maggard in the western edge of Douglas County, MO, a mile northeast of Highlonesome. Barbara was the daughter of Troy D. and Edith Maggard.
Barbara attended school at Highlonesome, Chadwick, and graduated from Ava High School, class of 1960. She attended college at Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, MO.
Barbara was baptized by her uncle, Preston Maggard in July of 1953.
On September 11, 1970 Barbara and Robert “Bob” Day were united in marriage in Miami, Oklahoma. To this union two children were born. She was a lifelong resident of western Douglas County.
Barbara worked at Emerson Electric in Ava, MO for over 20 years and retired from Mercy Hospital in 2014 after 15 years of service.
Barbara was a child of God and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church at Highlonesome. She was a Sunday School Teacher, and directed the Christmas Programs at Mt. Olive for over 30 years. She enjoyed working with the children at church teaching them the true meaning of Christmas!
Barbara enjoyed life. She loved to read, especially her Bible. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and most of all she loved being with her family! Barbara had a true gift of love for family and friends. She also enjoyed cooking for her family and telling stories. One of her greatest joys in life was witnessing all of her grandchildren accept Christ and watching them be baptized!
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob and brother Loren D. Maggard.
Barbara is survived by her children, Bobbi Hicks and husband Rodney, and Adam Day; grandchildren, Tiffany Lafferty and husband Kyle, Hunter Day, and Stetson Day; great granddaughter, MayCee Jo Lafferty; sister-in-law, Hazel Maggard, brother-in-law, Larry Day, sister-in-law, Xiva Day and a very dear lifelong friend, Wanda Hutchison.
She also leaves behind nieces and nephews she considered her own children, Mark, Lisa, Leslie, Lee, as well as a host of many other relatives and friends.
